After both skiing trips we went into Mushroom Studios in Clifton to record some tracks for George (who owned the Crescendo Lodge).
Somehow we gained a keyboard player, Dave Thomas and carried on. Dave was slightly older than us and often got offended at our language and behaviour but hey when it's late and you've just driven back from London or wherever, what else is there to do but drive around the downs setting off a flash bulb just outside all the parked cars!
More gigs for Mike until one fateful night outside Dingwalls when Mike told us we needed to have more of a sound ("Look ... just write the same song ten times.. that's all they bloody want"). We said we enjoyed the variety and so gradually Mike and the False Idols drifted apart. (Sorry Mike... you were right)

The gigs became less, we were all a lot older but we struggled on. We went back to Cave for the last time to record "Centre of Attention" and "Fine Blue Line". Cave had just acquired an AMS machine and I just went ape with it. That demo is just drenched in reverb!!

Well that's about the end of the story. Can't remember the last gig... I think it was in Oxford. We didn't row or anything ... we just drifted apart. Still it was one hell of a ride.
